Samdech President of the National Assembly Grants a Courtesy Call to the DPRK Parliamentary Delegation

Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei HENG SAMRIN, President of the National Assembly and APA President, granted a courtesy call to the parliamentary delegation of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea led by H.E. Mr. Park Myong Guk, Member of Supreme People’s Assembly and Foreign Affairs Vice-Minister, on the occasion of the 9th plenary session of the APA, which is held in Siem Reap province.

During the courtesy call, both sides spoke highly of the longstanding ties of friendship between the two countries, which were established during the reign of Preah Barom Rattanak Kodh King Father NORODOM SIHANOUK and Supreme Leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Kim Ii Sung.

In the meantime, Samdech President of the National Assembly supported the good cooperation between the two countries, particularly the Cambodia-Korea joint commission meeting on the cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, science and technology, and the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia highly evaluated and offered congratulations to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and Korean people on the ongoing progress that have been scored so far in successfully building and developing the motherland.

Speaking on behalf of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, H.E. Mr. Park Myong Guk highly evaluated the greater efforts expended by Cambodian National Assembly in seeking regional and global peace through pursuing the Asian Parliament Assembly’s mechanism in organizing the APA plenary session during its two-year term.

He mentioned that Cambodian Parliament and the Supreme People’s Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Korea have enjoyed very good cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral framework levels.
The head of the delegation lauded Cambodia’s tourism potential in the site of Angkor Wat temple, where the DPRK constructed a modern Angkor Panorama Museum at a cost of USD 25 millions. He stressed that the investment is a crucial part of the close cooperation on cultural and economic sectors between the two countries.
