Cambodian NA President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei HENG SAMRIN Backs Agricultural Sector Cooperation Between the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the National People’s Congress of China

Cambodian National Assembly President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei HENG SAMRIN granted a courtesy call to the visiting Chinese parliamentary delegation headed H.E. Mr. WANG Guosheng, Member of the Standing Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, at the National Assembly palace on 21 December 2016 during his official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia with the aim of deepening the ties of friendship and the exchange of experience on agricultural area with Cambodia side within the legislative framework of the two countries, Cambodia and China.

On the occasion, Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei HENG SAMRIN warmly welcomed the Chinese NPC delegation to the Kingdom of Cambodia, regarding the official visit as the fruition brought by his official visit to the People’s Republic of China in July 2016, during which he and National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China Chairman Zhang Dejiang agreed to further step up the existing cooperation between the two legislative bodies and countries.

In addition, Samdech (honorific) president, in the name of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, expressed his satisfaction over all achievements coming from the ties of all-round strategic partnership cooperation between the two governments since the past, stressing that the good relations between the two countries have largely contributed to Cambodia’s development in all sectors.

More importantly, the president highly evaluated the initiative of H.E. Mr. Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, in building “One Road, One Belt Policy” for the 21st century, which will help promote economic and trade cooperation in the region so as to bring prosperity for all; therefore, Cambodia will definitely reap the benefit from this policy.

In reply, H.E. Mr. WANG Guosheng, Member of the Standing Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, extended his profound thanks to Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei HENG SAMRIN, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, for expending his valuable time to meet him and the Chinese delegation, recalling that in 2016, the top leaders of the two countries, Cambodia and China, have exchanged frequent official visits, which have pushed the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two legislative bodies and countries to flourish to hew height. He continued stressing that China and Cambodia have longstanding diplomatic relations, which are true and faithful in the mutual interests of the two sides.

H.E. Mr. WANG Guosheng is leading a Chinese NPC delegation to pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia from 20-24 December 2016. Apart from the courtesy call on Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei HENG SAMRIN, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the delegation is scheduled to hold discussions with concerned Cambodian officials in charge of agricultural sector, and will inspect some agricultural sites in Siem Reap province.

Lastly, Samdech president encouraged the delegation to have the opportunity to hold more discussions with the Commission on Planning, Investment, Agriculture and Environment and Water Resources of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia after the courtesy call.
