Cambodia and Bahrain Lawmakers Meet at AIPA General Assembly

Vientiane, Lao PDR, 22 October 2024 – The Honourable Mr. Ahmed Abdul Wahed Qarata, Second Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has expressed his intention to strengthen cooperation with the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

During a meeting with the Honourable Mr. Suos Yara, Chairman of the Cambodian National Assembly Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Information, he also thanked Cambodia for supporting Bahrain’s accession to AIPA as an Observer Parliament.

The Honourable Second Deputy Speaker sought Cambodian support for His Majesty the King of Bahrain's initiative to organize an international conference on peace in the Middle East.

Hon. Mr. Suos Yara invited Bahraini lawmakers to attend the 11th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP) to be hosted in November by Cambodia, where a Peace Charter will be announced as a joint effort for world peace.

During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the 45th AIPA General Assembly in Vientiane, the two sides exchanged views on promoting active exchanges of friendship and cooperation between legislatures of the two countries.
