Phnom Penh, 23 November 2024 – Samdech Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly and member of the Standing Committee of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), attended a dinner for Asian political parties on Friday.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the CPP and the Senate, hosted the dinner for delegates to the General Assembly of the 12th International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), grouping more than 52 countries.
Under the theme, “A Quest for Peace and Reconciliation”, the assembly and related meetings are an important opportunity to strengthen pluralistic mechanisms and promote a culture of dialogue for global peace and reconciliation.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Honorary President of the General Assembly, expressed his gratitude and warm congratulations to the organizers. He said the CPP was honored to be hosting the meeting for the second time, noting its significance given current geopolitical, geo-economic, and security challenges.
Cambodia is regarded by international friends as a country that successfully ended decades of war to achieve complete peace.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen initiated peace negotiations with then Prince Norodom Sihanouk in 1987, leading to the Paris Peace Agreements of 1991. Under his Win-Win Policy, the war ended completely in 1998, bringing lasting peace and development to the people.
The Royal Government led by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, has vigorously protected, maintained and promoted peace under the seventh mandate of the National Assembly formed after general elections last year.
Cambodia has a firm stance in protecting peace, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and development by putting people at the center of its policies.
