On the evening of November 23, 2024 at the Champey Hall of Sokha Hotel, Phnom Penh, Bureau Committee of the 11th General Assembly of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP11) conducted a meeting to prepare the working agenda for the 11th General Assembly IPTP under the chairmanship of H.E. Mr. Ahmed Bin Mohamed Aljarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP), together with H.E. Mr. Sous Yara, Chairperson of Committee on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Information and President of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace(IPTP) and Mrs. Margarita Restrepo, Chair of the General Assembly of GCTP.
At the beginning of meeting, H.E. Mr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan reflected the importance of results of and lessons learned from the CDI-IDC meeting held in Siem Reap and the ICAPP General Assembly recently held in Phnom Penh. He highlighted the importance of the Global Peace Charter and expressed his grateful thanks to all participants for their support of the Global Peace Charter. He stressed the need and urgency of joint efforts to ensure peace and stability around the world.
H.E. Mr. Sous Yara shared the perspective of unity through diversity and supported the vision of transition from diversity to a common language of “peace and tolerance” for the IPTP family. For instance, the Siem Reap Declaration, the Values of the Asian Century, and the upcoming Phnom Penh Declaration will be an important foundation for better operations in the future.
The meeting discussed the working agenda for the 11th General Assembly of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace to be held in the following days and described the process of the relevant sessions as well as the meeting of the five major committees in the 11th General Assembly, which will discuss about the five pillars of the Global Peace Charter.
The meeting ended with the consensus on the drafted agenda and all delegates congratulating Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Decho Hun Sen on the occasion that he is awarded the Peace Prize for his significant leadership of building peace in Cambodia.
