Phnom Penh, 6 June 2025 — Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, will lead a high-level parliamentary delegation to pay an official and friendly visit to Hungary from 15 to 20 June 2025, at the invitation of H.E. László Kövér, Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary.

The visit aims to further strengthen the longstanding bonds of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between the two countries, with a particular focus on advancing inter-parliamentary diplomacy and promoting the mutual interests of the Cambodian and Hungarian peoples.

During the visit, Samdech Khuon Sudary will hold bilateral talks with H.E. László Kövér, pay a courtesy call on the President, and meet with the Prime Minister of Hungary to explore opportunities for enhancing cooperation across various sectors.

As part of her program, Samdech will also meet with Cambodian students currently studying in Hungary to assess their well-being and academic progress. In addition, the delegation will visit key industrial, cultural, and tourism sites in Hungary to enhance people-to-people exchanges and expand cooperation in culture, tourism, trade, and investment, in line with the aspirations of both nations.

This year, Cambodia and Hungary officially commemorate the 69th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (20 September 1956 – 20 September 2025). Hungary was among the first countries to support Cambodia following its liberation on 7 January 1979. Over the decades, bilateral ties have steadily advanced through mutual visits, high-level dialogues, and expanding technical cooperation within both legal and practical frameworks.

Significant milestones include the official visit of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister and current President of the Senate of Cambodia, to Hungary in 2019, and the state visit of H.E. János Áder, then President of Hungary, to Cambodia in October 2019. These visits established a strong foundation for multifaceted, people-centered cooperation.

The delegation accompanying Samdech Khuon Sudary on this parliamentary diplomacy mission includes H.E. Suos Yara, Chairman of the Fifth Commission; H.E. Lork Kheng, Chairwoman of the Eighth Commission; and H.E. Nin Saphon, Chairwoman of the Ninth Commission of the National Assembly.

The delegation further comprises senior officials and parliamentary advisors from the National Assembly’s Secretariat-General, including H.E. Dr. Keo Piseth, Chief of Cabinet to the President of the National Assembly; H.E. Dr. Chheang Vannarith, Chairman of the Advisory Council of the National Assembly; and H.E. Khuon Davith, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Assembly.
