Kuala Lumpur, 17 September 2025 — Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, reaffirmed Cambodia’s strong commitment to promoting peace, stability, and harmony in ASEAN through the peaceful settlement of disputes, during the Executive Committee Meeting of the 46th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

Samdech reaffirmed Cambodia’s firm stance on resolving border issues with Thailand peacefully, in line with the ceasefire, ASEAN and UN Charters, and international law. “Peace at our border is not only Cambodia’s peace — it is ASEAN’s peace, essential for stability and sustainable development under the ASEAN Community Vision 2045,” she said.

Samdech Khuon Sudary also introduced Cambodia’s draft resolutions for AIPA-46, including the establishment of an AIPA Leaders Forum, AIPA Partnership Building for Inclusive and Sustainable ASEAN Engagement, and the inclusion of emergency agenda items.

She emphasized that these initiatives are designed to make AIPA more responsive to emerging challenges and global shifts. “The AIPA Leaders Forum will serve as an inclusive platform for dialogue on pressing regional and international issues, while the Partnership Building mechanism will expand AIPA’s reach, reinforce ASEAN Centrality, and promote peace, stability, and sustainable development,” she said.

The Executive Committee, chaired by Hon. Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr.) Johari Bin Abdul, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malaysia and President of AIPA-46, adopted the agenda and program of the General Assembly, reviewed the AIPA Secretariat’s 2024–2025 report, and confirmed future hosts: the Philippines for AIPA-47 in 2026, Singapore for AIPA-48 in 2027, and Indonesia for the 17th AIPA Caucus in 2026.

The 46th AIPA General Assembly, held under the theme “Parliament at the Forefront for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable ASEAN”, runs from 17 to 21 September in Malaysia with the participation of nine ASEAN member parliaments.
