Budapest, 28 October 2025 — Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, expressed deep appreciation for Hungary’s long-standing friendship and support in a press statement delivered at Pázmándy Hall on Monday.

The statement followed the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) — on Parliamentary Cooperation and Partnership between the two National Assemblies, and on Cooperation between their respective Secretariats-General.

Addressing Hon. László Kövér, Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, members of parliament, and the media, Samdech Khuon Sudary conveyed heartfelt thanks for the warm hospitality, stating, “We truly feel at home here and deeply appreciate the warmth of the Hungarian people.”

She recalled Hungary’s vital support for Cambodia’s peacebuilding and reconstruction since its liberation from the Khmer Rouge regime, and reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to expanding cooperation in agriculture, science and technology, trade and investment, tourism, and cultural and educational exchanges.

During the visit, the Cambodian delegation held cordial discussions with Hungarian counterparts, reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening parliamentary cooperation under both bilateral and multilateral frameworks, with a focus on promoting the interests and well-being of their peoples.

Samdech Khuon Sudary underscored that the signing of the MoUs marked a new milestone in parliamentary collaboration, expressing confidence that these agreements would yield tangible outcomes and further promote people-to-people ties between the two nations.

Looking ahead to 2026, she highlighted plans to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations, including the forthcoming state visit of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni to Hungary — an event expected to further consolidate the enduring friendship and partnership between the two countries.
