Phnom Penh, 9 July 2026 — H.E. Suos Yara, Chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Information of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Cambodia-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group, received a farewell courtesy call from H.E. Ueno Atsushi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Cambodia, on Wednesday afternoon at the National Assembly Palace.
During the meeting, H.E. Suos Yara expressed his sincere appreciation for Japan's longstanding support for Cambodia's peacebuilding, reconstruction, and socio-economic development, as well as its continued commitment to implementing the Cambodia-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the Cambodia–Japan Economic Co-Creation Package.
The Chairman also commended Ambassador Ueno for his dedicated service and significant contributions to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and Japan throughout his tenure.
For his part, Ambassador Ueno reaffirmed Japan's commitment to further enhancing cooperation with Cambodia, particularly in the areas of connectivity, maritime cooperation, the ASEAN-Japan partnership, and the promotion of regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
Ambassador Ueno also expressed his hope that parliamentary exchanges and cooperation between the two countries would continue to expand in the years ahead.
Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening the longstanding friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Cambodia and Japan, while enhancing parliamentary cooperation and people-to-people exchanges for the mutual benefit of the two countries and their peoples.
