Cambodian MP Honored with Hungarian Order of Merit for Strengthening Bilateral Ties

On the evening of 5 September 2024, Honorable Sous Yara, Chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Information of the National Assembly of Cambodia, was awarded the Officers’ Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary by His Excellency Dr. Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary, in celebration of Hungary’s National Day on 20 August 2024.

During the ceremony, H.E. Tibor Baloghdi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Cambodia, residing in Hanoi, highlighted that the award honors individuals who have significantly contributed to national and universal development. He praised Honorable Sous Yara for his effortlessly in strengthening and enhancing the relationship between Hungary and Cambodia.

Honorable Sous Yara expressed his gratitude to Hungary for recognizing his diplomatic achievements. He emphasized that the awarding of the decoration is more than just an honor but rather a testament to the strong, deep and profound traditional friendships and relations of the two countries, built by the past and present generations of leaders and key public figures. He has a great privilege of working under the wise and visionary leadership of Samdech Techo HUN Sen in charting the course of building productive cooperation and partnership with Hungary under the exceptional leadership of Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his capable team in the government in serving the interests of the two nations.

Honorable Sous Yara hopes that the existing cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, tourism, culture, and technology will further strengthen through parliamentary diplomacy, particularly during the 7th legislature of the National Assembly led by Samdech Rathasphea Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, envisioning a future of strengthened ties and mutual growth.
