Samdech Khuon Sudary Calls for Enhanced Bilateral Trade and Investment with Guangdong

During a transit at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on the way to Beijing for an official visit to China, Samdech Rathsaphea Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, received a warm welcome and met with H.E. Mr. Chen Jiaquan, Vice-Chairman of Foreign Affairs Commission of the Guangdong Provincial People’s Congress on Sunday morning, 22 September 2024.
 
On that occasion, Samdech Khuon Sudary urged the Guangdong Provincial People’s Congress to promote bilateral trade, encourage investors to invest in Cambodia, and enhance people-to-people exchanges with the province of Guangdong.
 
Samdech expressed her sincere thanks for the warm welcome and hospitality from the Chinese side during her brief transit, particularly from the Guangdong provincial authorities. This gesture reflected the strong traditional relationship and ironclad friendship between the two countries. She also admired the remarkable development of Guangdong Province.
 
Both sides appreciated the traditional relationship, good cooperation, and comprehensive strategic partnership between Cambodia and China. They highlighted that the Cambodian-Chinese friendship is a role model for international relations based on the principles of mutual trust, respect, and understanding, for the mutual benefit of both countries.
 
H.E. Mr. Chen Jiaquan expressed his support for Samdech’s remarks, and he proposed to have an official and friendly visit to Cambodia by the Guangdong Provincial People’s Congress delegation in November 2024 to further strengthen and deepen the good relationship between the two legislative bodies. He informed the delegation that Guangdong is China’s leading province in terms of trade. The government has established the Greater Bay Area (GBA), officially known as the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.
 
Samdech welcomed the growing connectivity between the Cambodian National Assembly and the Guangdong Provincial People’s Congress. The National Assembly is pleased to welcome the delegation of the Guangdong Provincial People’s Congress to Cambodia this coming November.
Samdech emphasized that under the leadership of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Royal Government of the 7th Legislature of the National Assembly of Cambodia, the country are committed to promoting and protecting the interests of both local and foreign investors.
