Vientiane, Lao PDR, 22 October 2024 – The Honourable Dr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane, President of the Lao National Assembly, hosted a solidarity dinner for delegates to the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) on Monday.

A high-level Cambodian delegation led by Samdech Rathsaphea Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly, attended the dinner reception along with other delegates from AIPA Member and Observer Parliaments, Development Partners, and guests of the host country in a close and friendly atmosphere.

The Honourable Dr. Xaysomphone expressed deep gratitude to all delegates who took part in the General Assembly, sharing their views and experience in promoting parliamentary mechanisms, enhancing people-centered cooperation, and ensuring peace, stability, prosperity, and sustainability.

He said the meeting, successfully concluded earlier Monday, resulted in 37 resolutions on political, economic and social matters as well as AIPA's future work direction. He praised AIPA's role in representing the voices, rights, and interests of the people of ASEAN as a whole.

At the dinner, delegates from each of the AIPA member countries, including Cambodia, performed traditional songs and dances in a happy and friendly atmosphere. AIPA lawmakers are scheduled to meet again next year when the Malaysian parliament hosts the 46th General Assembly.
