Phnom Penh, 8 November 2024 – Samdech Rathsaphea Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly, presided over the third session of the seventh legislature as it resumed on Friday morning.

During the session, the National Assembly validated H.E. Mrs. Yos Tha Neary as Member of Parliament from Kampong Thom to succeed the late H.E. Mr. Chea Chanto. It also discussed and approved a bill to repeal the Law on the Approval of the Agreement on the Promotion and Facilitation of Trade in the Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Development Triangle Area, promulgated by Royal Kram No. NS/RKAM/0318/004 dated 6 March 2018.

The agreement was part of a trilateral memorandum of understanding on preferential trade policies. The Royal Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has announced its withdrawal from the memorandum of understanding. The withdrawal terminated the trade agreement.

After discussing the procedure on Friday, the National Assembly unanimously approved a bill prepared by the Royal Government to repeal the law.
