Phnom Penh, 10 February 2025 – Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly, received a courtesy call on Monday from four newly appointed ambassadors prior to their departure for diplomatic missions.

During the meeting, Samdech emphasized, “Ambassadors on diplomatic missions abroad not only represent the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but also our nation, our King, and the entire Cambodian people.”

Samdech added, “Diplomatic missions are a noble task that must protect the country's interests and enhance its prestige on the international stage.”

The four newly appointed Cambodian ambassadors bidding farewell to Samdech were H.E. Mr. Chea Chanboribo, Ambassador to Bulgaria and other European countries; H.E. Mrs. Kimsour Sovannary, Ambassador to Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg; H.E. Mr. Chey Ratha, Ambassador to Brunei; and H.E. Mr. Sin Saream, Ambassador to the Philippines.

Samdech expressed her great joy and congratulations, on behalf of the National Assembly, to the ambassadors entrusted by the Royal Government of the 7th legislature of the National Assembly, under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet. He is committed to continuing the mission of Samdech Techo Hun Sen in developing and improving citizens' living standards, especially to achieve the 2030 goal of making Cambodia an upper-middle-income country and a high-income country by 2050.

“Diplomats stand on the front lines. Diplomatic missions are vitally important, complementing the efforts of those within the country by contributing to protecting and promoting national identity, economic growth, and national stability,” Samdech highlighted.

“In order to achieve this goal, diplomats must closely coordinate state diplomacy, parliamentary diplomacy, economic diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy.”

She further noted, “In addition to fulfilling diplomatic missions, ambassadors are also guardians of Cambodian citizens living, studying, working, or operating businesses in their host countries.”

She added, “Diplomats must connect with citizens, preserve national identity, and widely promote national culture and traditions to the international community.”

H.E. Mr. Chea Chanboribo, representing the four ambassadors, expressed his deep gratitude to Samdech Rathsaphea Thipadei for the opportunity to pay a courtesy call, bid farewell, and receive valuable recommendations.

The ambassadors expressed their strong commitment to serving the people and the nation, responding to the high trust placed in them by the Prime Minister, the President of the Senate, and the President of the National Assembly.
