Samdech Rathsaphea Thipadei Khuon Sodary to Lead a High-Level Parliamentary Delegation to China this Weekend

Phnom Penh - 17 September 2024 — At the invitation of Honourable Mr. Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China (NPC), Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, will lead a high-level delegation to pay an official and friendly visit to the People's Republic of China from 22 to 26 September 2024.

The visit aims to further strengthen the bond of friendship and good cooperation between the two legislative bodies and countries under both bilateral and multilateral frameworks guided by the spirit of traditional relationship, comprehensive strategic partnership, and ironclad friendship, for the benefits of both nations and their peoples. Both sides also aim to leverage parliamentary diplomacy and cooperation to build a a people-centered Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future in a new era.

As planned, Samdech Rathsaphea Thipadei will pay a courtesy call on Hon. Mr. Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and hold bilateral meeting with her counterpart Hon. Mr. Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China.

The National Assembly President and the Chairman of NPC will sign a cooperation agreement between their respective legislative bodies. This agreement aims to enhance opportunities for parliamentary cooperation, including bilateral exchanges, capacity building, and information and knowledge sharing at all levels.

Samdech Khuon Sudary and Hon. Mr. Zhao Leji will also preside over the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Secretariat-General of the National Assembly of Cambodia and the General Office of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China.

After that, Samdech Rathsaphea Thipadei will continue the visit to Shanghai, where Samdech will hold various meetings with Chinese side to further connect Cambodia with Shanghai especially economic and cultural ties.

During the five-day visit, the delegation will visit historical, cultural and industrial sites in Beijing and Shanghai as part of fostering people-to-people contacts that is key to enduring friendship and good cooperation between the two countries and peoples.
