Vientiane, Lao PDR, 23 October 2024 – Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly, expressed deep gratitude to her Lao counterpart Wednesday for the warm hospitality and successful organization of the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).
In a meeting with the Honourable Dr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane, President of the Lao National Assembly, she committed to continue nurturing the traditional friendship, good cooperation, and comprehensive and long-lasting strategic partnership between the two countries and their peoples.
Samdech expressed her profound thanks to the National Assembly, Government and people of Lao PDR for their warm and cordial hospitality extended to the Cambodian parliamentary delegation since their arrival in the Lao capital.
She also congratulated the Lao Government and Parliament for successfully organizing the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits as well as the ASEAN-AIPA Leaders' Interface Meeting in Vientiane earlier this month.

She noted that the annual AIPA General Assembly that concluded on Monday was a great success, achieving its expected results and bringing benefits to the people of Lao PDR, ASEAN, and the world.
The Honourable Dr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane expressed heartfelt gratitude to Samdech for leading the Cambodian delegation and actively participating in the General Assembly. The spirit of solidarity, friendship, tradition, and comprehensive and long-lasting strategic partnership contributed to meaningful and fruitful results, he said.
In addition, the Honourable President conveyed through Samdech an invitation to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, to pay an official visit to Lao PDR at a convenient time.
Both sides agreed to continue promoting bilateral cooperation to achieve further results for their peoples in the fields of economy, trade, education, tourism, and security, and stressed the importance of a railway link between the two countries.
On ties between the two legislatures, they committed to further strengthening bilateral cooperation through exchanges of information and capacity building via existing parliamentary mechanisms within the framework of friendship groups, and mutual support in regional and international parliamentary fora.
The two National Assembly Presidents emphasized that parliamentary diplomacy was becoming increasingly important to resolve common issues and help promote peace, stability, sustainable development, and inclusion – not only for the two countries but also for the international community.
Samdech invited the Honourable President to pay an official and friendly visit to Cambodia and take part in the 11th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP) to be hosted by Cambodia in November.
She also announced five scholarships for officials at the Lao National Assembly Secretariat-General to study at Beltei University.
